These clubs will extend the Neuse River Program - and the Museum's resources - to 18 middle schools in nine rural counties from 1999-2002. In each after-school club, 12 sixth-grade girls and their science teachers will spend six weeks exploring hands-on activities, interacting with female scientist/educators, and investigating scientific career opportunities. The students take a field trip to a local stream or pond to collect water quality data. The museum provides interactive video conferencing technology to enable students in outlying counties to confer with educators, scientists, and other girls at the Museum in Raleigh.
Paticipating Counties: Caswell, Granville, Vance, Franklin, Warren, Halifax, Harnett, Greene and Wayne.
Program Dates: Each school arranges its own schedule with the museum.
