WEEK B -- TUESDAY

Bob gets a big welcome back... Dan gives out the problem of the day. Minisessions were held on WebCT, Blackboard, Differential Equations and Advanced Stella.

The Railroad Joker Problem

In the middle of the night a prankster welds one foot of additional track into the middle of one mile of perfectly flat railroad track. If the track, which is anchored at both ends, bows up in a circular arc, how high is the center of the track above the ground?

After the break, some people went down to the lab to continue working on their projects. Others stayed for the first mini-session...

The participants worked hard in the lab between mini-sessions...

The staff worked hard, too...

WebCT

Jeff Hirst -- guest lecturer -- gave an overview of webct, and Holly gave a demo of some of the quiz building features.

Blackboard

The first mini-session in the afternoon was Shawn giving a presentation on Blackboard.

Differential Equations

The next session was Dan giving an overview of differential equations.

Advanced Stella

After the DE session Bob gave another lecture on Stella. This was a little bit more than an introduction on the software. Bob actually did more advanced modelling techniques in Stella this time around.
