Project TitleInternship for Computational Molecular Modeling
SummaryThe primary purpose of this internship is computational molecular modeling. This project will employ the Blue Waters supercomputer to solve quantum mechanics based calculations concerning molecular structure and properties.
Job DescriptionIntern will leverage the Blue Waters supercomputer for computational molecular modeling projects. The algorithms will solve quantum mechanics based calculations to provide insight into molecular structure and properties. This work will be completed with guidance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) researchers Dr. Doug Linder and Dr. William Kelly. The project will use existing code, written for Linda 8 and PVM, as a reference. The resulting software package should utilize open source packages and libraries.

A significant focus of this position will be on education. The successful intern will be asked to present their work at the Fall 2016 Oklahoma Supercomputing Symposium, the Spring 2017 Oklahoma Research Day, and the Spring 2017 SWOSU Fair. Interns will also present lectures in the fall 2016 Hardware/Software Concepts course, the Spring 2017 Software Engineering and Computer Architecture courses, and provide demonstrations at the First Tech Challenge Robotics state finals at SWOSU and the American Association of University Women Tech Trek also at SWOSU.
