| Project Title | Implementing HPC Bioinformatics Algorithms |
| Summary | In a Fulbright Specialist visit to Università degli Studi "Magna Graecia" di Catanzaro in Italy, Angela Shiflet and George Shiflet started a project with Mario Cannataro and Pietro Guzzi on developing an educational module on one or more high-performance-computing bioinformatics algorithms. Drs. Cannataro and Guzzi have written a book, Data Management of Protein Interaction Networks (Wiley, 2011), and regularly teach bioinformatics and HPC. The Blue Waters intern would help implement the HPC bioinformatics algorithms in C and MPI. The module and programs will be publically available on the web and hopefully will be used at Università degli Studi "Magna Graecia" and other schools. |
| Job Description | The intern will help us implement the HPC bioinformatics algorithms in C and MPI and will assist us in developing associated materials, such as user manuals and tutorials. |
| Conditions/Qualifications | Must have programming experience, preferably in C with MPI. |
