Project Title | N-body Simulation Research Assistant |
Summary | Student will test and expand existing N-body simulation materials, creating sample models for the GalaxSee-HPC code that show science applications enabled by increasing N. Student will create a web interface for GalaxSee-HPC to run on cluster resources with a PBS scheduler. Additionally, new visualization options for large N (>100000) will be incorporated into the code. |
Job Description | Use and modification of GalaxSee-HPC, a C-based N-body simulation. Creation of input files to be run on a 1000+ core cluster at Kean University. Visualization of results, including VRML output that can be rendered on either standard or stereo hardware, including Kean's 3 wall CAVE. Creation of JOCSE articles detailing specific astronomy problems solved at large N that can be reproduced by students. |
