Principal's Executive Program
The Principal's Executive Program (PEP) of the University of North Carolina conducts professional level management and leadership courses for principals, assistant principals, superintendents, and central office administrators of North Carolina's public schools. Established in 1984 by the North Carolina General Assembly, PEP seeks to improve the education of the state's K-12 students by increasing the commitment, enlarging the knowledge, and developing the skills of school administrators as instructional leaders and managers of people, property, and budgets.

The Shodor Education Foundation, Inc. partners with PEP by conducting two-day workshops at the Friday Center for prinicipals and other administrators in the basics of computing technologies. The "Technology Basics 1" course provides a "wine-tasting" overview of computer technologies, including basic literacy and computer "jargon", introductions to word processing, spreadsheets, presenation software, telecommunications and the Internet, and provides participants with the opportunity to apply their skills to a variety of small projects. The "Technology Basics 2" workshop continues their work with these tools, with a focus on word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. The Foundation encourages participants to contact the workshop trainers after completion of the training for further support and assistance.
