Unit Description and Pretest: PBL Basics

What will I learn in this unit?
Unit 1 of this three unit module discusses the structure and processes found in the planetary boundary layer, or PBL. In addition to some basic definitions, this unit looks at the structure of the PBL, including the surface layer, the mixed layer, the stable layer, the residual layer, mixing heights, and the Monin-Obukhov length.
