Abstract
This lesson allows students to learn different types of angles including:
adjacent
alternate exterior
alternate interior
verticle
acute
obtuse
right
Standards (NCTM 3-5) Geometry
Analyze characteristics and properties of two- and three-dimensional
geometric shapes and develop mathematical arguments about geometric relationships
identify, compare, and analyze attributes of two- and three-dimensional
shapes and develop vocabulary to describe the attributes;
Specify locations and describe spatial relationships using coordinate geometry
and other representational systems
describe location and movement using common language and geometric vocabulary;
Student Prerequisites
Technological:
Students must be able to:
perform basic mouse manipulations such as point,
click and drag.
use a browser such as Netscape for experimenting with
the activities.
Teacher Preparation
Students will need:
access to a browser.
access to pencil and paper.
Lesson Outline
Focus and Review
Review all information previously covered on angles.
Objectives
Students will identify different types of angles including:
Have the students complete at least 10 computer generated problems from the Angles Applet.
Instruct the students to copy down the angles given to them by the computer along with the correct
answer to the computer generated questions.
Closure
Review the different types of angles by having the students come to the front of the class and
point out the different angles on the floor angle model.
