Mathematics as Reasoning

Section 1.2

Activity Name Activity Description
Sequencer Students input parameters (starting number, multiplier, addend) to generate number patterns in arithmetic and geometric sequences.
Coloring Multiples in Pascal's Triangle Given a number supplied by the applet, students select multiples of the number in Pascal's Triangle, creating geometric fractal patterns.
Coloring Remainders in Pascal's Triangle Students color numbers in Pascal's Triangle by rolling a number and then clicking on all entries that have the same remainder when divided by the number rolled, thereby practicing multiplication tables, investigating number patterns, and investigating fractal patterns.
Function Machine Students enter an input value (x) to the applet and use the corresponding output value ( y = f[x] ) to determine the form of simple algebraic functions.
