Patricia graduated from North Carolina State University (NCSU) in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Computer Science. Receiving a full scholarship from NCSU to pursue her Masters in Computer Science, she obtained her M.S. degree in 1993. Her area of concentration was in Data and Computer Communication with a minor in Database. While at NCSU, Patricia was a teacher assistant for undergraduate and graduate level courses.
After graduation, Patricia worked with Nortel Networks as a Software Designer. She has ten years of research and development experience which includes understanding a product's life cycle through analysis, design estimate, development, integration test and delivery.
Patricia joined the Shodor Foundation in June, 2004 where her main focus is on Quality Assurance, Parallel/Cluster computing as well as developing and sustaining java applets. Patricia was attracted to Shodor because it is a great opportunity for professional development while helping others develop professionally through mentoring and faculty workshops.
Patricia loves to write inspirational greeting cards in her spare time. She has started her own line of greeting cards known as the River of Jordan. Patricia also loves to spend time with her husband, Willie and their two children Kayla and Iya. Patricia is a mentor for the Durham Women and Mathematics (WAM) program. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
